Illinois Wesleyan Earns NCAA hosting Bid in Volleyball
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan will be the site of the NCAA Division III national women’s volleyball tournaments in 2007 and 2008, the NCAA recently announced.
The tournament will expand to 62 teams this season, meaning the Titans will host eight teams in the championship bracket instead of four.
Illinois Wesleyan is no stranger to hosting national championships. The Titans played host to the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2000 and 2005, as well as the women’s golf championships in 2000.
The 2005 and 2006 tournaments will be in Salem, Va. This year’s tournament will be hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the city of Salem.
Illinois Wesleyan was recently predicted to finish third recently in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin pre-season coaches poll.
