Carthage Volleyball Clinches Share of Conference Title

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Carthage volleyball team, winners of 10-straight matches and 15 consecutive regular season conference matches, clinched at least a share of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin title with its 22-30, 30-26, 30-27, 30-16 victory over Millikin on Oct. 8.

In addition, Carthage defeated Illinois Wesleyan 30-27, 30-25, 30-25 on Oct. 7. Millikin, which holds a 5-1 record in conference play, is currently second to Carthage.

The Lady Reds are the defending CCIW co-champions and are nationally ranked in 2005, with a No. 28 ranking in the Oct. 4 American Volleyball Coaches Association/College Sports Television NCAA Division III poll.

Carthage can clinch the title outright with a win on the road over nationally ranked Elmhurst on Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Reds will have a tune-up when they travel to Elmhurst this weekend for the Elmhurst College Invitational.
