Carthage Wins CCIW Volleyball Title With 6-0 Record
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – With its win over Augustana on Saturday, Oct. 14, the Carthage women’s volleyball team earned its third straight conference title in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), moving the Lady Reds’ record to 6-0 in conference play and 22-2 overall.
The conference title was the fifth ever in school history, but the Lady Reds also extended their CCIW regular-season winning streak to 22 matches, which ties a conference record set by Elmhurst in 1986, 1987 and the first six of 1988. Carthage won its last two 2003 conference matches, all seven in 2004 and all seven in 2005.
By virtue of winning the regular season title, Carthage earns the No. 1 seed for a Tuesday, Oct. 31 play-in game against the team that ends up finishing eighth in conference play. The winners of the four play-in games earns a spot in the conference tournament to be held Nov. 3-4. The highest remaining seed after the play-in round hosts the tournament.
Carthage closes out the conference portion of its season against Elmhurst at home on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
