Volleyball Coaches Pick Carthage in CCIW Pre-Season Poll
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Carthage Lady Reds were predicted to win their fourth consecutive volleyball championship according to a pre-season poll conducted by the volleyball head coaches in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Friday.
Carthage was picked in the top spot with a total of 48 points including six first place votes after a 7-0 finish (29-5 overall) in conference play last season. Illinois Wesleyan was the second place finisher in the poll with 41 points including two first place votes.
Wheaton placed third with 30 points, while Elmhurst was fifth with 29. Millikin (28), North Central (24), Augustana (17) and North Park (seven) rounded out the poll.
Voting for the pre-season poll is done by the volleyball coaches in the CCIW. Each coach votes for the seven other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own team.
The CCIW volleyball season begins August 31.
