Augustana’s Richardson Named CCIW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Augustana’s Jenna Richardson was named women’s tennis player of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after her performance during competition the past weekend.

Richardson, a sophomore from Bellwood, Ill., and Walther Lutheran High School, was 5-1 this past week, going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles. She had singles wins at No. 2 over Lindsey Earhart of Millikin (6-0, 6-0) and Sarah Rusch of Illinois Wesleyan (3-6, 6-2, (11-9)). She also defeated Cassie Frantz of Monmouth (6-4, 2-6, (10-3)) at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 doubles, she teamed with freshman Tricia Sapio for an 8-3 win against Kristen Sproat and Rhoda Lewis. She also played with sophomore Kaitlin Kulovitz and beat Sarah Wilson and Cate Hunter of Illinois Wesleyan (8-4). Her only defeat came against Monmouth where she and freshman Sheri Hendricks lost 8-6 to Kim Wegner and Emily Isaacs.
