Wheaton Wins 11th Women’s Soccer Championship
WHEATON, Ill. – Wheaton has won a share of every College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women’s soccer championship dating back to 1995 when the conference began sponsoring the sport. That trend continued when the Thunder topped Illinois Wesleyan 4-0 in Saturday’s CCIW title game, earning them their 11th championship in a row.
Jen Binger scored two goals and assisted on another for Wheaton, while Keren Jezequel and Erin Hodina scored the other two goals for the Thunder as Wheaton outshot Illinois Wesleyan 17-5.
Wheaton, the defending NCAA champion, earned the automatic bid to the national tournament with its 7-0 regular season record, but earned the outright conference title with its win over the Titans Saturday.
The pairings for the NCAA Tournament will be announced on Monday, Nov. 7.
In the semfinal games Monday night, Wheaton defeated Carthage 1-0, while Illinois Wesleyan topped Augustana 3-1.
