Lee, DeLass Earn CCIW Soccer Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Taryne Lee and Joel DeLass of Wheaton were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during competition the past week.

Lee, a sophomore forward from St. Charles, Ill., and Wheaton Academy, scored three goals last week in helping the top-ranked Thunder to a pair of victories against nationally-ranked foes. On Wednesday Lee scored both goals in Wheaton’s 2-1 win at eighth-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Lee broke a 1-1 tie and scored the game-winner with 18 seconds left in regulation. On Saturday she added a goal in a 2-0 win against No. 21-ranked College of St. Benedict.

DeLass, a junior midfielder/forward from Spring Lake, Mich., and Western Michigan Christian High School, helped lead Wheaton to a pair of wins last week with two goals and an assist. Last Wednesday he helped guide the Thunder to a 3-0 win against Wisconsin-Platteville with one goal and an assist. In Wheaton’s 4-1 win at Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday, DeLass scored a goal against the Titans. The Titans entered the match ranked 21st in the most recent D3Kicks.com Top 25 poll.
