Roberts, Carqueville Earn CCIW Soccer Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Tessa Roberts of Augustana and Jeff Carqueville from Illinois Wesleyan were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during competition the past week.

Roberts, a senior forward from St. Charles, Ill., and St. Charles North High School, scored a total of six goals last week to move her season total to 14. She tallied four goals in an 11-0 non-conference victory over MacMurray on Sept. 27, in Jacksonville. On Saturday, Sept. 29, at home against North Central, she scored two goals late in the second half as Augustana rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pick up a 3-2 CCIW victory. Her first goal came in the 80th minute and the second one in the 82nd minute. Both were unassisted. Roberts has also moved into second place on the Vikings career goals scored list with 50.

Carqueville, a junior midfielder from from St, Charles, Ill., and St. Charles East High School, scored the winning goal, unassisted, in the second overtime to give Illinois Wesleyan a 3-2 CCIW win at North Park on Sept. 28. The Titans rallied from a 2-0 deficit with two goals in the final 11 minutes to claim the victory. Carqueville also scored the Titans’ only goal in a 2-1 loss at Elmhurst on Sept. 30.
