Lee, Gyuricza Earn CCIW Soccer Player of the Week Honors
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Taryne Lee of Wheaton and Jordan Gyuricza of North Park were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during competition the past week.
Lee, a sophomore forward from St. Charles, Ill., and Wheaton Academy High School, helped lead the Thunder to a pair of wins last week as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation improved to 7-0 on the season. Wheaton was a 5-2 winner at UW-Stevens Point on Sept. 12 as Lee scored the game-winning goal and added an assist. The Thunder defeated then No. 23-ranked Kenyon College 5-0 last Saturday behind two goals from Lee, including the game-winner.
In two games played last week, Gyuricza, a senior forward from Palatine, Ill., and St. Viator High School, was instrumental in leading the Vikings this past week. He scored a goal and had a pair of assists in North Park’s 3-1 win over Concordia (Wis.) Wednesday, Sept. 12. He scored another goal in North Park’s 2-0 win over No. 8-ranked Wartburg College on Sunday. North Park, ranked No. 12 in the nation by D3Kicks.com, improved its record to 5-1 with both wins.
