Wheaton Sweeps CCIW Soccer Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sarah Richardson and Micah Lamb of Wheaton were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during competition the past week.

Richardson, a senior forward from Marshall, Mich., and Marshall High School, helped lead top-ranked Wheaton to three victories last week with six goals and three assists. The Thunder captain scored at least one goal in each of her team’s three matches. She led the Thunder to a 5-1 win at Aurora University on Tuesday with three goals against the Spartans. In Friday night’s 4-1 win against St. Olaf she scored a goal with an assist. She added two more goals, with two assists, on Saturday in a 5-0 win against No. 23-ranked Calvin College.

Lamb, a sophomore goalkeeper from New Milford, Conn., and New Milford High School, helped lead Wheaton to a pair of 1-0 wins last week. On Friday, Wheaton was a 1-0 winner at Hope College as Lamb made five saves in recording his first collegiate shutout. Lamb put together back-to-back shutouts with a 1-0 win on Saturday at Calvin College. Lamb made six saves against the Knights.
