Roberts, Elass Named CCIW Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Tessa Roberts of Augustana and Strider Elass of Wheaton were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wednesday after their performances during competition this past week.

Roberts, a senior forward from St. Charles, Ill., and St. Charles North High School, scored a total of five goals and had one assist as Augustana, ranked 24th in the latest NCAA Division III poll according to D3kicks.com, won two matches. The Vikings beat Concordia 11-0 and Coe 5-1. Roberts scored three goals and had one assist on Friday, August 31, against Concordia and then came back on Sunday, September 2, with a pair of goals against Coe.

Elass, a senior forward from Wheaton, Ill., and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, scored two goals and distributed three assists for the Wheaton soccer team last weekend. In a 5-2 victory against Webster University on Friday, Elass scored one goal and three assists, including an assist on the game-winning goal. Elass scored Wheaton’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie (two overtimes) against Loras University, a 2006 NCAA Tournament participant.
