Wheaton women's soccer stays undefeated, wins cciw tournament title
WHEATON, Ill. -- The Wheaton College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in the 2007 season after a 3-0 win over Carthage in the championship game of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Soccer Tournament Saturday at Joe Bean Stadium.
The Thunder (22-0-0, 7-0-0) earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they will look to defend their national title from a year ago.
The NCAA Tournament pairings will be announced Monday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. (CST) and will be available at www.ncaasports.com.
Carthage finishes the regular season with a 15-4-1 record (5-1-1 in the CCIW) and awaits to see if it will earn an at-large bid to the national tournament.
Wheaton scored all three of its goals in the second half as Taryne Lee picked up two of them to go along with one assist. Erin Hodina scored the Thunder's other goal while Sarah Richardson had one assist.
Carthage goalkeeper Lindsey Bollman made 16 saves for the Lady Reds.
