Silbernagel, Opal Named Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Annie Silbernagel of North Park and Mark Opal of Illinois Wesleyan were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Silbernagel, a sophomore forward from Loveland, Colo., scored her third CCIW goal last Saturday in a win over conference foe Millikin. She also scored against Wheaton and Augustana and has four goals on the year. Silbernagel spent the first half of the season playing defense.

Opal, a senior midfielder from Wheaton, Ill., had two goals and an assist in Illinois Wesleyan’s 6-2 win at North Central. His goals came one minute apart in the 64th-65th minutes and he assisted on Ikenna Odinaka’s goal in the 69th minute. The win improved the Titans’ CCIW record to 2-2-1.
