Richardson, Polock, Roberts Named Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sarah Richardson of Wheaton, along with Lauren Polock of Augustana and Kurt Roberts of North Park were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Richardson, a junior forward from Marshall, Mich., helped lead Wheaton to a 2-0 record last week, including an overtime win against The College of New Jersey, the fourth-ranked team in NCAA Division III. Wheaton was a 3-2 victor at The College of New Jersey on Saturday thanks in large part to Richardson. She scored a first half goal to tie the match at 1-1, and 1:13 into the second overtime she assisted on the game-winning goal to give the Thunder the dramatic victory. Richardson also served up an assist last Monday in a CCIW win against North Central.

Polock, a freshman forward from Winfield, Ill., recorded a pair of goals in Augustana’s 3-1 victory over North Park on Saturday, October 14 in Chicago. With the win, Augustana moved to an impressive 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the CCIW. Polock has three goals and a team-leading eight assists on the season. The eight assists ties the existing school record currently held by Yvonne Gagliano in 1994.

Roberts, a junior forward from Arvada, Colo., played an instrumental role in the Vikings’ wins over Millikin and Augustana. Against Millikin, Roberts came off the bench and scored the game-tying goal with 14 minutes remaining in the game. He then knocked in the game winner with 30 seconds left in regulation as North Park went on to win 2-1. To match that effort, Roberts again came off the bench and scored both goals in North Park’s 2-1 win over Augustana. Roberts has five goals on the season.
