Roberts, Eriksson Named Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Tessa Roberts of Augustana and PJ Eriksson of North Park were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.

Roberts, a junior midfielder from St. Charles, Ill., scored a pair of goals on Saturday night as Augustana defeated No. 21 Wheaton. Roberts scored her first goal just 15:12 into the game and it came off an assist from freshman Lauren Polock. That gave Augustana a 1-0 lead. Wheaton tied the game at 22:32 but in the second half Roberts scored at 73:54, again off an assist by Polock. The victory was the first ever by Augustana over the Thunder in women’s soccer.

Eriksson, a junior forward from Varnamo, Sweden, scored both goals in the Vikings’ 2-1 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday to open up CCIW play. Eriksson has four goals and one assist on the year, including 19 shots in leading the Vikings to a 7-0-1 record on the season.
