Richardson, Person and Hunka Named Soccer Players of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sarah Richardson of Wheaton, along with Austin Person of North Park and Tommy Hunka of Elmhurst were named soccer players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tuesday after their performances during the previous week of competition.
Richardson, a junior forward from Marshall, Mich., scored two goals last week, helping lead Wheaton to a 2-0 record. Last Wednesday she scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory against Wisconsin-Oshkosh. On Saturday night she scored a goal in a 4-1 Thunder win at Loras. Saturday’s goal marked her third consecutive match with a goal. She has scored at least one goal in four of Wheaton’s five matches this season as she leads the Thunder with seven goals this year.
Person, a senior goalkeeper from Omaha, Neb., has picked up right where he left off from last season in leading the Vikings to an undefeated 6-0 record. The reigning CCIW Men’s Soccer Player of the Year had two shutouts in two games this past week, and recorded 10 saves in victories over Carroll and Milwaukee School of Engineering. He has recorded shutouts in five games this year, giving up his only goal on a penalty kick.

On Wednesday, Hunka totaled two assists, including an assist in the game’s opening goal 11 seconds into the match, in the Bluejays 6-0 CCIW win over North Central.
