CHICAGO -- North Park men’s soccer player Isaac Lee was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Academic All-American team for the 2007 season.

Lee, a junior and a native of Seoul South Korea, was selected to the College Division First Team for his stellar play combined with his 3.34 grade point average.

“This is a great honor to be selected by the coaches; I did not expect it” said Lee. He was among 47 fellow Academic All-Americans honored at the NSCAA All-American Luncheon, held Saturday, January 19, in Baltimore, Maryland. On hand to present the awards were U.S. National Team Members Claudio Reyna and Kristine Lilly. Lee is the third Academic All-American selection for North Park over the last three years. Former goalkeeper Austin Person C’2007 was honored in 2005 and 2006.

In addition to being named Academic All-American, Lee has earned the following awards for his exceptional play: D3Kicks.com All Region (2006, 2007), D3Kicks.com All-American (2006), NSCAA All-Central Region (2003, 2006, 2007), and First Team All-CCIW honors (2003, 2006, 2007). He is a member of the Korean U23 National Team, which recently qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. After graduation, Lee aspires to play professionally.

“I hope to turn pro in 2009 and be the first North Park player to do so,” said the exercise science major. “I think it’d be a great example for me to set for future North Park players and to help the program continue to thrive. Playing in the Olympics will be a great opportunity for me to represent Korea and North Park University. I’m looking forward to it.”
