Two CCIW Institutions at the Top of Division III Men’s Soccer Attendance

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The NCAA recently released its home attendance averages during the 2006 NCAA Division III men’s soccer season and two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) institutions were listed among the top five in the nation.

Wheaton was second only to national champion Messiah with an average home attendance of 765 in 11 dates for a total of 8,420 people during the 2006 season. North Park was fifth in the nation with an average home attendance of 598 in 11 home dates for a total of 6,580.

North Park is the defending conference champion after finishing 6-0-1 (14-3-2 overall) in conference play. Wheaton was third with a 4-2-1 record (16-8-4 overall), but advanced all the way to the national championship game before losing to Messiah 3-0. The Thunder earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after a 3-0 win over Augustana in the championship of the CCIW Tournament.
