Two CCIW women's golf teams recognized for academic excellence

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana women's golf programs were recognized Monday as two of the top programs in the country with the highest team GPA.

The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) announced the top 25 women's golf programs in the country with the highest team GPA. Illinois Wesleyan was ranked in a tie for fourth place with Santa Clara University as both achieved a GPA of 3.662 for the 2007-08 academic year. Augustana was ranked 23rd with a team GPA of 3.522.

Illinois Wesleyan has won the last six College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) championships while Augustana finished second in 2006. Additionally, Illinois Wesleyan has advanced to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship three straight seasons, finishing sixth in 2006 and 2007, and eighth in 2005.
