Illinois wesleyan to represent cciw at ncaa women's golf tournament
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- After winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship back in October, Illinois Wesleyan earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament to be held May 8-11 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
The field includes 20 teams and 11 individuals. Competing for Illinois Wesleyan will be senior Andrea Johanns, juniors
Taylor Paskell and Kristi Katz, sophomore Nicole Spear and freshman
Alessandra Bollero.
This appearance at the NCAA Women's Golf Tournament marks the third consecutive time and fifth overall for the Titans. Illinois Wesleyan was sixth in both 2006 and 2000, 10th in 2002 and eighth in 2005.
This was the first season that the conference was given an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the NCAA approved automatic qualifiers for golf in January 2005, affective with the 2006-07 season.
