NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Tye Thompson has been named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Golf Coach of the Year in a vote conducted by the head coaches in the CCIW Wednesday.
Thompson, in his fourth season at the helm of the program, led the Cardinals to the highest finish in school history at the CCIW Championship last weekend at the Red
Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur, Ill. The team placed fifth, tying its previous high when
they placed fifth in 2003. Additionally, freshman Alyssa Gaudio (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) took home the individual title, shooting a two-day score of 153. It was the first time that a North Central women’s golf player finished as the individual champion at the conference championship.
Thompson, a native of Naperville, is a graduate from the University of New Mexico and spent 30 years in the transportation industry with a Fortune 500 company as director of national accounts. Thompson has won various amateur golf competitions throughout the United States and Europe.
