Illinois Wesleyan places ninth, Wheaton 15th at ncaa division iii championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The Illinois Wesleyan and Wheaton women's golf teams competed at the 2009 NCAA Division III championship, held Wednesday to Saturday.

The Titans, the 2008 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) champion, finished ninth with a four-day score of 1313 (323-336-326-328) while the Thunder finished 15th with a score of 1338 (343-342-333-320). This season marked the first time in conference history that two teams from the CCIW qualified for the NCAA Division III championship

Illinois Wesleyan's Nicole Spear (Naperville, Ill./Central) tied for 12th with a score of 319 (77-79-77-86) while Lindsey Haines (Crete, Ill./Marian Catholic) tied for 21st (81-82-83-79-325). Erica Woodall (Normal, Ill./University) tied for 49th (85-85-81-82-333) while Alessandra Bollero (Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) tied for 77th (80-90-92-81-343). Maddie Murphy (Wayne, Ill./St. Francis) tied for 91st (87-95-85-86-353).

Wheaton's Jenny Speckman (Rockford, Ill./Christian) tied for 24th (85-81-81-79-326) while Casi Blanton (Indianapolis, Ind./Covenant Christian) tied for 49th (85-88-83-77-333). Brittany Bronson (Bend, Ore./H.S.) was 63rd (79-86-85-86-336) while Rachel Beveridge (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) tied for 82nd (94-93-84-78-349). Julie Yonkus (St. Charles, Ill./East) finished 103rd (99-87-93-89-368).
