Illinois Wesleyan wins seventh straight cciw women's golf championship
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan Titans took home their seventh-straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women's golf title, winning with a team score of 649 Saturday at Springbrook Golf Course in Naperville, Ill.
The Titans tallied a round one score of 318 and a round two score of 331 to win the championship. Wheaton finished second with a team score of 681 (343+331), followed by North Central (345+353=698), Augustana (354+345=699), Carthage (358+352=710), Elmhurst (370+342=712), Millikin (360+356=716) and North Park (412+408=820).
Illinois Wesleyan's Lindsey Haines (Crete, Ill./Marian Catholic) (76+83=159) defeated Wheaton's Brittany Bronson (Bend, Ore./H.S.) (77+82=159) in a sudden-death playoff to earn medalist honors.
Haines' teammate Nicole Spear (Naperville, Ill./Central) (80+81=161) was third, followed by Illinois Wesleyan's Maddie Murphy (Wayne, Ill./St. Francis) (79+84=163), Millikin's Kayleen Gifford (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy) (82+84=166), Illinois Wesleyan's Erin Bradley (Normal, Ill./Community) (83+83=166), Augustana's Rachel Gahn (Edina, Minn./H.S.) (85+82=167), Carthage's Sarah Joers (Waukesha, Wis./West) (92+78=170), North Central's Alyssa Gaudio (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons) (87+84=171), and Wheaton's Casi Blanton (Indianapolis, Ind./Covenant Christian) (89+82=171).
