Augustana, North Central Continue Seasons in NCAA Playoffs

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – After accomplishing respective 9-1 records during the regular season, North Central and Augustana were rewarded with a spot in the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs, announced Sunday by the NCAA.

The Vikings, winners of the CCIW title after going 7-0 in conference play, will host Lakeland at noon on Saturday, Nov. 19, while North Central will face Capital at 1 p.m. in Naperville.


Augustana has not been to the playoffs since 2001, when the Vikings lost to Mount Union 32-7 in the second round. The Vikings won four straight Division III championships from 1983 to 1986.

North Central will be making its first appearance in the Division III playoffs.
