CCIW Names Earnest, Toal Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Chuck Earnest of North Central and Jonathan Toal of Wheaton were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Football Players of the Week for their performances Saturday, Oct. 29.

Earnest, a senior wide receiver from Carol Stream, Ill., had eight catches for a career-high 178 yards and two touchdown catches of six and four yards in the Cardinals’ 52-14 win over Millikin on Saturday. Earnest’s big day moved him into second place all time for North Central in career yardage (1,647) and receptions (91).

Toal, a junior linebacker from Sidney, Ohio, made several big plays to go along with his six total tackles (four solos) in Saturday’s 30-14 win against Carthage. Toal recorded two tackles for lost yardage of eight yards, including a quarterback sack of six yards. One of his TFL’s was a third-quarter safety that helped extend Wheaton’s lead to nine points from a seven-point edge. Toal also forced a fumble that he recovered in the win.

CCIW football continues its season on Saturday, November 5 as North Central travels to Augustana, while Carthage hosts Illinois Wesleyan. Elmhurst travels to Millikin, while North Park hosts Wheaton.
