CCIW Names Kudyba, Banks and Denny Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Tom Kudyba and Damon Banks of Illinois Wesleyan and Matt Denny of Carthage were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Football Players of the Week for their performances Saturday, Oct. 22.

Kudyba, a senior from Des Plaines, Ill., finished 26 of 40 for 232 yards and two touchdowns as Illinois Wesleyan claimed its first conference win of the year, a 23-14 victory over Wheaton at home on Oct. 22. Kudyba’s 26 completions tied for the fifth most in school history in a single game. The win was the 500th in the 113-year history of Titan football.

Banks, a senior from Bellwood, Ill., led the Titans with 16 tackles, including seven solo in the win over Wheaton. Banks returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown and also forced two fumbles in the Titans’ victory.

Denny, a sophomore from Griffith, Ind., booted three field goals in the Redmen’s 23-3 win over North Park on Oct. 22. Denny booted the first at 6:19 in the third quarter, connecting on a 34-yarder. He connected on a 44-yard field goal at 10:04 in the fourth quarter and a 27-yarder with 3:07 remaining to cap the scoring.

CCIW football continues its season on Saturday, October 29 as Elmhurst travels to Augustana, while Wheaton hosts Carthage. Illinois Wesleyan travels to North Park, while Millikin travels to North Central.
