Kniss, Hoyland, March & Bognanno Named Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Kam Kniss of North Central, along with Rob Hoyland of Illinois Wesleyan, Tim March of Wheaton and Anthony Bognanno of North Central were named football players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Sunday.

Kniss, a senior quarterback from Lanark, Ill., was 23 of 38 for 279 yards and two touchdowns as North Central shut out Augustana 27-0 on Saturday. Kniss had scoring tosses of three yards to Eric Stuedemann and four yards to Perry Welch. He also hit Wes Kostellic on a 51-yard completion to help set up a 23-yard field goal.

Hoyland, a junior defensive lineman from Montgomery, Ill., led Illinois Wesleyan’s 44-0 shutout effort against North Park with six total tackles, including an eight-yard sack and another tackle for a two-yard loss. Hoyland also scooped up a Viking fumble and ran it back 70 yards for a fourth quarter score that put the Titans ahead 30-0.

March, a senior cornerback from Edina, Minn., was an instrumental component in Wheaton’s 34-0 win over Elmhurst on Saturday. March made six total tackles, with four solos and ½ of a tackle for loss (-1 yard). His big play came in the second half when he intercepted a Bluejay pass and returned it 64 yards for a touchdown.

Bognanno, a freshman kicker from Moline, Ill., had field goals of 29 and 23 yards to help the Cardinals in the win over Augustana on Saturday. The kicker was also a perfect 3-for-3 on PAT kicks.

The conference season continues in the CCIW next Saturday, November 4 as Wheaton travels to Carthage, while Augustana hosts North Park. Illinois Wesleyan plays host to North Central, while Millikin travels to Elmhurst.
