Black, McGinnis, Studebaker and McLean Earn CCIW Football Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Chaz Black of Wheaton and Ryan McGinnis of Augustana shared CCIW Offensive Player of the Week Honors Sunday after both of their performances earned their respective teams victories over the weekend. Andy Studebaker of Wheaton and Aaron McLean of Millikin took home defensive and special teams player of the week honors respectively.

Black, a senior running back from Canal Winchester, Ohio, played a key role in Wheaton’s come-from-behind 31-19 victory against North Central on Saturday. Black carried the ball 25 times for 191 yards as he averaged 7.6 yards per carry with two touchdown runs. A team captain, Black helped his team rally from a 13-0 halftime deficit with 174 rushing yards on 20 carries in the second half.

McGinnis, a junior quarterback from Moline, Ill., helped lead the Vikings to a 28-14 victory on the road over previously undefeated Elmhurst on Saturday. McGinnis had 177 yards of total offense in the game as he rushed for 97 yards on 18 carries with one touchdown and a long of 37 yards. He also completed five of six passes for 73 yards and one touchdown.

Studebaker, a junior defensive end from Congerville, Ill., recorded a career-best three quarterback sacks for -28 yards in Wheaton’s win over North Central. Two of his hits came in the second half as he helped spark a Thunder rally from a 13-0 halftime deficit. He recorded four solo tackles in the game, including the three sacks and also added five quarterback hurries in the win.

McLean, a junior punter/kicker from Belleville, Ill., continued to do damage with his leg, averaging 55.0 yards per punt in a 36-6 win over North Park Saturday, including a long punt of 67 yards. His four punts totaled 220 yards with two falling inside the 20-yard line. He also added four extra points.
