Dreyer, Scardullo, Jordan Named Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Noah Dreyer of Wheaton, John Scardullo of Elmhurst and Sam Jordan of Millikin were named football players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Sunday.

Dreyer, a junior wide receiver from Cedar Falls, Iowa, had a career-best game in Saturday’s 48-7 win against Washington University (Mo.). Dreyer caught nine passes for 98 yards with three touchdown catches. He scored Wheaton’s first two touchdowns that gave the Thunder a 14-0 lead. The junior was critical to Wheaton’s offensive attack that passed for 307 yards and had 441 yards of total offense.

Scardullo, a sophomore linebacker from Monee, Ill., helped lead the Bluejay defense to a 23-10 win over the University of Chicago on Saturday. Scardullo totaled 10 tackles, including seven solo tackles. He also recorded three tackles for loss, and a sack. Trailing 10-3 at halftime, Elmhurst’s defense held Chicago to only 81 yards of offense in the second half. The Maroons crossed midfield only once in the second half and Scardullo quickly killed that drive with an interception.

Jordan, a sophomore linebacker from Kankakee, Ill., picked up a blocked punt and ran it back 30 yards for a touchdown in Millikin’s 38-31 loss at Wabash. The score was part of Millikin’s 22-point fourth quarter effort and it cut Wabash’s lead to 31-24.

The non-conference portion of the CCIW schedule continues next Saturday, Sept. 23, as Wheaton travels to Hope and Augustana plays at UW-Platteville. Olivet hosts Elmhurst, while Washington University takes on North Central in St. Louis, Mo. North Park hosts Rose-Hulman.
