Fanthorpe, Ford, Kemper Named CCIW Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Aaron Fanthorpe of North Central, Jerwane Ford of North Park and Jordan Kemper of Wheaton were named football players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Sunday after their performances during games played on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Fanthorpe, a sophomore quarterback from Naperville, Ill., and Naperville North High School, led the Cardinals to their first victory at Augustana’s Ericson Field since 1980 by leading the team in rushing and passing in a 31-15 win Saturday. Fanthorpe completed 11-of-20 passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for a team-high 106 yards on 17 attempts. Fanthorpe’s passing touchdowns were of 10 and two yards.

Ford, a senior defensive back from Chicago, Ill., and Collins High School, recorded nine tackles, one for a loss, and forced two fumbles, one of which led to an eventual touchdown, in North Park’s near upset of Illinois Wesleyan Saturday, which the Titans eventually won 20-14. Through eight games, Ford ranks fourth on the team with 29 solo tackles and 10th in the CCIW. His three forced fumbles leads all conference players.

Kemper, a senior tight end from Rockford, Ill., and Rockford Christian High School, made an impact on special teams for Wheaton in its 48-7 win at Elmhurst on Saturday. Kemper recorded six total tackles, including five solos, all on special teams coverage. Of Elmhurst’s nine kickoff returns in the game, Kemper was involved on the tackle five times, including four solo tackles. The senior also recorded a solo tackle on the Bluejays’ lone punt return of the day.

The conference portion of the CCIW football season continues next Saturday, Nov. 3 as Millikin travels to Augustana, while Carthage hosts North Central. Wheaton travels to Illinois Wesleyan, while Elmhurst hosts North Park.
