NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan’s Kraig Ladd and Robert Beauchamp, along with North Central’s Andrew Barciszewski were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.
Ladd, a junior quarterback from Shelbyville, Ill., and Shelbyville High School, threw for four second half touchdowns to four different receivers to bring Illinois Wesleyan out of a 10-7 halftime deficit, leading the Titans to a 35-24 win over
Elmhurst on Saturday. Ladd was 17-of-23 for 248 yards in the second half alone, and for the game, completed 23-of-34 passes for 330 yards (the 14th best in an Illinois Wesleyan game). His touchdown passes went for 42, 27, three and five yards respectively.
Beauchamp, a senior cornerback from Cerro Gordo, Ill., and Cerro Gordo High School, made 11 solo tackles and assisted on one in Illinois Wesleyan’s win over Elmhurst on Saturday. He had a quarterback sack for minus six yards and made two other tackles for losses, totaling six yards. In addition, he ran back two kickoffs for 24 and 20 yards respectively.
Barciszewski, a freshman kicker/punter from Troy, Ill., and Triad High School, tied a North Central single-game record with three field goals and made five-of-five PAT kicks to account for 14 of the Cardinals’ 44 points in North Central’s 44-21 victory over then No. 4 Wheaton on Saturday. He provided North Central’s initial scoring with a 19-yard field goal in the first quarter, then added a 28-yard kick in the second quarter before tacking on a 20-yarder just before halftime. Barciszewski has made eight-of-10 field goals and 23-of-23 extra-point attempts this season.
