NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Dominic Sulo of North Central, Pete Ittersagen of Wheaton and Matt Denny of Carthage were named football players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Sunday after their performances during games played on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Sulo, a sophomore running back from Oak Forest, Ill., and Mt. Carmel High School, gained 205 yards and scored three touchdowns as 25th-ranked North Central posted a 61-34 win over North Park in the Cardinals’ CCIW opener Saturday. Against North Park, Sulo scored on runs of 14, one and 31 yards in the win.

Denny

Ittersagen, a junior cornerback from Wheaton, Ill., and Wheaton North High School, helped lead Wheaton to a 29-7 win against Millikin on Saturday afternoon with a team-high 12 total tackles, including 10 solo stops. The All-American also had four passes broken up to his credit, with a forced fumble and a tackles for lost yardage of minus-2 yards.

Denny, a senior place kicker from Griffith, Ind., and Griffith High School, booted three field goals in the Red Men’s 30-15 loss at Elmhurst on Sept. 29. Denny’s first two kicks came in the second quarter, the first one a 38-yard field goal at 11:32 to make the score 14-3. Denny’s second field goal, a 41-yarder at 5:14 in the second quarter made it a 14-6 contest at halftime. Denny converted his third field goal of the game, a 24-yarder at 13:38 to cut the lead to 14-9.

The conference portion of the CCIW football season continues as Augustana hosts Elmhurst and Illinois Wesleyan travels to Carthage. Millikin hosts North Park, while Wheaton travels to North Central.
