D’Angelo, Jordan and Duffy Named CCIW Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Matt D’Angelo of Elmhurst, Sam Jordan of Millikin, and Joe Duffy of Illinois Wesleyan were named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.

D’Angelo, a senior wide receiver from McHenry, Ill., and McHenry East High School, scored all five of Elmhurst’s touchdowns and broke three school records in the Bluejays 35-14 win over Benedictine on Saturday. D’Angelo tied the school’s single-game record for receptions with 13. He also broke the single-game record for touchdown receptions (five) and receiving yardage (256). He caught touchdown passes of 12, 63, 61, 11, and 27 yards. He also totaled 96 yards on special teams for 352 all-purpose yards in the win.

Jordan, a senior linebacker from Kankakee, Ill., and Kankakee High School, tallied 11 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery in the Big Blue’s 38-20 win over Illinois College on Saturday. In addition, Jordan also returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown in the win.

Duffy, a senior kicker from Oak Lawn, Ill., and Brother Rice High School, had field goals of 39 and 36 yards in Illinois Wesleyan’s 28-25 win over Hope on Saturday. His 39-yard field goal came just 59 seconds into the game to give the Titans a 3-0 lead. His 36-yard field goal came with 1:51 to play to stake Illinois Wesleyan to a 28-19 lead and proved to be the margin of victory as Hope scored a minute later. Duffy also added two extra-point kicks.
