O’Boyle, Venier, Aguilar Named CCIW Football Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Brennan O’Boyle of Carthage, along
with Tyler Venier and Ben Aguilar of North Central were named football players of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Sunday after their performances during games played on Saturday,
Nov. 4.

O’Boyle, a junior quarterback from Chicago, Ill., and Brother Rice High School, led the Red Men to a 35-27 upset win over Wheaton Saturday. The Thunder were ranked No. 4 in the country coming into the game. O’Boyle completed 28-of-44 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Venier, a junior defensive back from Dixon, Ill., and Dixon High School, led North Central in tackles with nine in the Cardinals’ 23-7 victory over Illinois Wesleyan Saturday. Venier also had one sack for a loss of six yards and two tackles-for-loss of nine yards. The junior also had an interception that stopped a late potential scoring drive by the Titans.

Aguilar, a senior kicker from Woodridge, Ill., and Benet Academy, tied a school record with three field goals in North Central’s win over Illinois Wesleyan Saturday. Aguilar booted field goals of 40, 30 and 27 yards. The 40-yard field goal was a career best. With his three field goals, Aguilar also increased his season-total to 12 to also break the single-season record.

The regular season concludes next Saturday, Nov. 10 as North Central travels to Carthage while Illinois Wesleyan hosts Wheaton. North Park travels to Elmhurst while Augustana hosts Millikin.
