four from cciw named to 2008 d3football.com all-america Team

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Pete Ittersagen and Jesse Scott of Wheaton, along with Matt Wenger of North Central and Randy Wright of Elmhurst were recently named to the 2008 D3Football.com All-America team.

Ittersagen, a senior defensive back and kick returner from Wheaton, Ill., earned all-conference honors this past season while helping to lead his team to the semifinals of the NCAA Divison III Football Championship. He recorded 65 total tackles this season including 49 solo. With 61 career passes defended, Ittersagen is among the all-time Divison III leaders in the category.

Scott, a senior offensive tackle from Blossburg, Pa., paved the way for an offense that racked up 5,699 yards of total offense this season as the offense averaged 407.1 yards per game. Wheaton finished ranked among the NCAA Division III leaders in scoring offense (22nd), total offense (35th) and passing offense (37th).

Wenger, a junior linebacker from Davis, Ill., was a first team all-conference selection who helped lead the Cardinals to an undefeated regular season and the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. Wenger was the team's leading tackler with 137 including 78 solo and 59 assisted en route to earning the CCIW's Don Larson Defensive Player of the Year award.

Wright, a sophomore linebacker from Bellwood, Ill., was the team's leading tackler on a team that finished 7-3 after the Bluejays finished 6-4 in each of the last three seasons. Wright finished with 119 total tackles including 61 solo and 58 assisted. He also tallied 9.5 sacks (15th in the nation) and 22.5 tackles for loss (third in the nation).
