three cciw football players to take part in 2007 aztec bowl
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Three student-athletes from College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) football teams were selected to represent the NCAA Division III national team that will play against Mexico in the 2007 Aztec Bowl.
Safety/punter Donovan Moore from Carthage, offensive lineman Don Kasper from North Central, and offensive lineman Jon Verhelst from Augustana were all selected to compete in the December 8 game in Chihuahua, Mexico.
The Aztec Bowl is the traditional season-ending game for Mexico’s college football schedule. The game has been played 36 times since 1947 with the last nine contests featuring the United States vs. Mexico match-up. The United States leads the series, 9-1.
This year's game will start at 6 p.m. CST and will take place at Estadio Olimpico. The game will be available via webcast through the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) website at www.afca.com.
