Wheaton Women, North Central Men Earn CCIW Cross Country Titles

NORMAL, Ill. – For the 34th straight season, the North Central men’s cross country team was crowned champions of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin while Wheaton won its second title in three years on the women’s side during the CCIW Cross Country Championships Saturday at the Illinois State University Golf Course.

The Wheaton women earned the title with a team score of 41, while North Central was second with a score of 47. Augustana (83), Elmhurst (99), Carthage (113), Illinois Wesleyan (134), and Millikin (216) rounded out the team scoring for the women. The North Central men won with a team score of 37, while Wheaton and Augustana finished tied for second at 62. Elmhurst (108), Carthage (114), Millikin (180), Illinois Wesleyan (207), and North Park (251) rounded out the team scoring for the men.

Brandon Mull of Wheaton earned the individual men’s title, while Marisa Mele of Elmhurst won her third individual title in four years at this event. Mull won with a time of 25:02.49 in the 8K, while Mele finished with a time of 22:32.31 in the 6K.

Wheaton’s Lisa Baumert (22:49.64) was second, while Augustana’s Liz Driscoll (23:16.08) finished third. Marah Borgman (23:23.47) of Wheaton finished fourth, while North Central’s Megan Andracki (23:24.43) placed fifth. Carthage’s Karen Jackson (23:25.96) was sixth, North Central’s Sarah McMillan (23:33.68) and Christy Adduci (23:42.20) finished seventh and eighth respectively, and Wheaton’s Hannah Page (23:49.02) was ninth. Page’s teammate Sarah Beasley (23:51.74) placed 10th.

On the men’s side, Mike Ptack (25:20.18) of Elmhurst finished second, while Ryan Carrigan (25:25.58) of North Central was third. Carthage’s Mike White (25:26.12) was fourth, while North Central’s Michael Spain (25:27.12) placed fifth. Matt Field (25:35.41) of Wheaton and Dan Leonard (25:36.91) of Augustana finished sixth and seventh respectively. Kyle Brady (25:42.28) of North Central was eighth, Augustana’s Andy Kubiak (25:45.22) was ninth and Brian Lesiewicz (25:46.68) of North Central was 10th.
