KATHLEEN BRICE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT INDIVIDUAL TITLE AS WHEATON & ELMHURST TIE FOR TEAM TITLE

Kathleen Brice of Elmhurst romped to her third consecutive individual title in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship on Saturday, November 1 at Montrose Harbor in Chicago, Illinois. Brice, who won by nearly two minutes over runner-up Christine Holl of North Central, helped her teammates forge a tie for the team championship with Wheaton.

Brice covered the 6,000 meter course in 21:05 while Holl was second in 22:53 and Grace Conrad of North Park placed third in 22:56. Jesi Christiansen of Wheaton finished fourth in 23:06 with Erin Brice of Elmhurst taking fifth in 23:14. The rest of the top ten were Valerie Lambrecht of Illinois Wesleyan (6th in 23:14), Bekah Faber of North Central (7th in 23:26), Melinda Sprague of Illinois Wesleyan (8th in 23:31), Hannah Standard of Wheaton (9th in 23:36) and Stephanie McHone of Augustana (10th in 23:38).

When it came down to the team title Wheaton and Elmhurst both had 69 points for the first title tie in women’s cross country in CCIW history. Elmhurst now owns at least a share of the last four conference team championships while Wheaton wins its first title since 1999.
