Augustana, north central place in top 20 at ncaa cross country championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) teams were well represented at the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 in Northfield, Minn.

The Augustana men, making its first appearance in the national meet since 1996, scored 423 points en route to a 15th place finish. Senior Dan Leonard was the top runner for the Vikings as he placed 63rd in the 8K with a time of 25:45.

North Central finished one spot behind Augustana at 16th with a score of 434. Kyle Brady was the top runner for the Cardinals as he finished in 75th place with a time of 25:50.

In addition, three Wheaton College runners earned All-American status. The top 35 runners in both the men's and women's races earn the title of All-American. Brandon Mull placed 10th out of 280 runners with a time of 24:53 in the 8K while teammate Matt Field placed 31st with a time of 25:09.

On the women's side, Wheaton's Lisa Baumert finished 31st out of 280 runners in the 6K with a time of 22:06.
